Bula, officially the Municipality of Bula (Rinconada Bikol: Banwaān ka Bula; Tagalog: Bayan ng Bula), is a first-class municipality in the Philippines' Camarines Sur province. It has a population of 73,143 people, according to the population list.
Bula was one of the first four towns established in Camarines Sur by the Spanish conquistadores when they arrived from the Visayas in 1576. Naga, Quipayo, and Nabua were the other major cities. The Spaniards who first arrived here inquired about the name of the location, but because they didn't understand the language, they assumed they were being asked about the name of the bamboo, and therefore received the response "Bu-la." As a result, the town was given the name Bula.
